Born in Münster, he lives in Munich as a composer, conductor, and pianist. He studied composition at the Detmold University of Music with Prof. Jürgen Ulrich, with piano as his main instrument.
During his studies, he spent two extended stays in Israel as a volunteer in a kibbutz Ma’agan , then the beginning of the opera תרנכ ( Kinneret ) – Scenes from the shores of the Sea of Galilee after an original libretto.
1991
Mozart Composition Prize ’91 for the chamber music work Soundscape . Major in conducting with Prof. Karl-Heinz Bloemeke .
1992
Invitation as a composer to the International Chain Festival, Holland with the trombone quartet Courtyard Music .

1950 born in Fürth/Germany and he grew up there. 1996 he moved to Binzwangen near Colmberg.
Gerd Scherm is writer and artist for fine arts. He was working with Eugen Gomringer the founder of „konrete Poesie“ and assistant of ZERO-artist Prof. Otto Piene (M.I.T., Cambridge, Mass., USA).
Gerd published numerous theatre pieces, lyric stories satire and other stories. Some of his librettos have been composed in music by Werner Heider, Erwin Koch-Raphael, Ingo Bathow and Franck Adrian Holzkamp.
He was teacher at the University of St. Gallen and @ Freie Universität Berlin.

1950 in Fürth geboren und aufgewachsen, lebt seit 1996 in einem alten Fachwerkgehöft in Binzwangen bei Colmberg.
Gerd Scherm ist als Schriftsteller und Bildender Künstler tätig. Ab 1972 war er Mitarbeiter von Eugen Gomringer, dem Begründer der „Konkreten Poesie“, und Projekt-Assistent des ZERO-Künstlers Prof. Otto Piene (M.I.T., Cambridge, Mass., USA) für verschiedene Umweltkunst-Projekte und arbeitete als Kreativdirektor für die Rosenthal AG in Selb.
Gerd Scherm hat eine Vielzahl von Einzelveröffentlichungen vorzuweisen, darunter Theaterstücke, Lyrikbände, Erzählungen, Satiren und Romane. Einer seiner Schwerpunkte liegt in der Lyrik, die er meist in künstlerisch-bibliophiler Ausstattung präsentiert, und die auch immer wieder zeitgenössische Komponisten zu Werken anregt (Werner Heider, Erwin Koch-Raphael, Ingo Bathow und Franck Adrian Holzkamp).
Literarisch-künstlerische Editionen und Aktionen schuf Gerd Scherm gemeinsam mit Otmar Alt, Jean-Marie Bottequin, Ortwin Michl, Josef Obornik, Erich Reusch, Wilhelm Schramm und Brigitte Tast.
Gerd Scherm war u.a. Gastdozent an der Universität St. Gallen und an der Freien Universität Berlin im Fachbereich Kultur- und Religionssoziologie.

Wolfgang Ellenberger already published Z0 until Z4, the operas around THE Magic flute.
Thus it was just logical that he discovered this opera „The Labyrinth“ (II) composed by Franck Adrian Holzkamp and the libretto written by Gerd Scherm and integrate it into the entire Magic-6-Cycle.
Thanks to their cooperation Ellenberger was allowed to electronize the partition and publish it as editor.

Wolfgang Ellenberger brachte schon Z0 bis Z4 heraus, die Opern um DIE Zauberflöte.
Da war es nur folgerichtig, diese Oper „Das Labyrinth“ (II) von Franck Adrian Holzkamp und Gerd Scherm zu entdecken und in den kompletten Magic-6-Zyklus zu integrieren.
Dank einer Kooperation durfte Ellenberger die Partitur elektronisieren und das Werk verlegerisch herausgeben.
